Aspirational Attributes are a core progression system in Where Winds Meet that you absolutely cannot afford to ignore. These stats—like Perception, Elegance, and Intelligence—are raised by completing specific open-world activities and minigames. Their primary purpose is to unlock a suite of powerful, permanent passive bonuses called Exploration Skills, which dramatically improve your quality of life, from finding hidden chests to gaining advantages in dialogue challenges.
Think of them not as side content, but as a parallel leveling path for your character's worldly wisdom. While your combat level dictates your fighting prowess, your Aspirational Attributes determine how cleverly and efficiently you can navigate the world itself. Neglect them, and you'll find yourself locked out of puzzles and missing game-changing passive abilities.
What's the Point of These Attributes?
These special stats serve two main functions. The first is straightforward: some puzzles and interactions in the world are gated by them. You might encounter a challenge that explicitly states you need '55 Elegance' to proceed. If your stat is too low, you simply can't complete the activity and claim its reward. It’s the game’s way of ensuring you engage with its diverse activities beyond just combat.
The second, and far more important, function is unlocking the Exploration Skills. These are not active abilities you slot on your bar, but permanent, always-on passive buffs that provide significant advantages. This is the real prize. These skills can fundamentally change how you explore the world, making you a more effective and observant adventurer.
The Real Prize: Unlocking Exploration Skills
The game misleadingly calls them 'skills', but they're passives. You can find this menu by navigating to Develop > Details and clicking the pickaxe and shovel icon, then tabbing over to 'Exploration Skills'. Here, you'll see several tiers of abilities that unlock based on your total Aspirational Attribute points, with each tier also requiring a minimum score in one or two specific attributes.

The tiers are structured as follows:
- Tier 1: Requires 200 total Aspirational Attribute points.
- Tier 2: Requires 400 total Aspirational Attribute points.
- Tier 3: Requires 600 total Aspirational Attribute points.
For example, the 'Rhetoric Edge' passive requires a total of 200 points, but also a specific minimum of 30 in Intelligence. This passive gives you a head start in 'Gift of Gab' debate minigames. Perhaps the most coveted passive is one that automatically reveals the closest chest on your minimap—an invaluable tool for anyone trying to clear a zone. To unlock it, you'll need high Perception and Elegance, plus the required total point threshold. This system encourages you to be a well-rounded character, not just a specialist.
How to Increase Every Aspirational Attribute
Each attribute is tied to a different set of minigames and activities scattered across the world. If you're ever trying to raise a specific stat, the in-game menu is your best friend. Navigate to the Exploration Attributes screen (Develop > Details), click on the stat you want to increase, and the game will often point you toward a relevant, uncompleted activity on your map.
Perception: The Archer's Eye
Perception is primarily increased by completing Archery Competitions. You'll find these marked on your map across both starting zones. These challenges task you with shooting a certain number of targets—usually birds or other animals—within a time limit. Your performance is graded C, B, or A, with each tier granting a set of rewards. You can repeat the challenge as many times as you like until you achieve the 'A' tier and claim all the available Perception points and other loot.
Elegance: Gourmet Tastes and Feline Friends
Elegance is one of the easier stats to raise and comes from two charming activities: Gourmet Mode and the Kitten Hunt.
- Gourmet Mode: Find a Chef in any major town (they have a unique icon above their head). Purchase both meals they have for sale, open your inventory, and consume them. Each unique meal from a chef will grant you Elegance.
- Kitten Hunt: This is exactly what it sounds like. When you see a kitten in the world, approach it and use the interact prompt to pet it. Each new kitten you pet for the first time grants you one point of Elegance. It's simple, wholesome, and effective.

Intelligence: The Art of Debate
To raise your Intelligence, you must engage in the Gift of Gab minigame. This is a card-based debate battle where you and an NPC trade verbal barbs. To win, you must reduce their health bar to zero before they deplete yours. This minigame can be tricky, as it’s timed and requires quick thinking. A key tip is to constantly spam the Q and E keys (or their controller equivalents), as this will trigger powerful quick-time event abilities that can turn the tide of the debate. Winning these encounters rewards you with Intelligence points and 'Career Notebooks' for upgrading your Scholar profession.

Resolve: The Drunken Master
Resolve is gained from the Pitch-pot Challenge. In this minigame, your character becomes inebriated and must attempt to throw darts into a vase. It's a test of coordination while your screen sways and your aim is impaired. Successfully completing these challenges will boost your Resolve, a stat often needed for puzzles that require a strong will.
Memory: The Healer's Touch
Your Memory attribute is raised by completing 'Heal the Illness' challenges. These are another card-based minigame where you play as a physician diagnosing and treating an afflicted NPC. You'll play cards to deal 'physiotherapy damage' to the illness's health bar while defending against its symptoms. The game forecasts the opponent's next move, allowing you to play offensively or defensively as needed. Each successful treatment boosts your Memory.
Constitution: The Fortress Breaker
Finally, Constitution is often a reward from more combat-oriented activities. Specifically, clearing out the repeatable combat campaigns found in enemy forts and outposts will often list Constitution as a first-clear reward. These events task you with defeating waves of enemies and a final boss, rewarding your physical fortitude with a permanent stat boost.
Your In-Game Attribute Tracker
Feeling overwhelmed? The game provides an excellent interface for tracking your progress and finding what to do next. As mentioned, the main hub for this system is under the Develop > Details menu, on the 'Exploration Attributes' tab.
This screen is your command center. It shows your current level in every attribute. Crucially, it's interactive. If you're short on Elegance for that chest-finding passive, simply click on 'Elegance'. The menu will then offer to guide you to an undiscovered 'Gourmet Mode' chef or another relevant activity on your world map. Use this feature constantly to hunt down the specific points you need without wandering aimlessly.
Don't Sleep on the Small Stuff
In a game as vast as Where Winds Meet, it's easy to focus only on the main quest and combat. However, the Aspirational Attributes system is a clear signal from the developers to engage with the breadth of the world. These minigames aren't just filler; they are the key to unlocking a layer of permanent progression that makes every other aspect of the game—especially exploration—more rewarding and efficient. Take the time to shoot some targets, pet some cats, and win some arguments. Your future self will thank you.
